The Stack
Cape Town restaurant

The 160-year old Georgian building has an interesting history that includes life as Leinster Hall, years of hosting the Cape Town Club and a fire. Renowned hotelier Nigel Pace and his wife Sarah, a talented designer, have transformed this space with style and colour into a true gem. The Stack brasserie offers authentic bistro-style food with a feeling of comfort. Diners enjoy the contemporary restaurant with eye-catching art and the cosy bar. In summer the shady terrace and balcony beckons.

Head chef Delia Harbottle, who honed her craft in The Liz McGrath Collection, is keeping popular classics like the French onion soup, steak frites and oysters on the menu, but at the same time bringing a breath of fresh air to the fare by giving them a modern twist. Her love of fresh produce is obvious, and she is committed to supporting local suppliers. Expect her favourite ingredients, game, to appear on the menu, and when available, Jerusalem artichokes. Look out for delicious fish dishes, sustainably sourced, and take advantage of the plat du jour, “It’s with this that my team use their knowledge and have fun,” says Delia.

Service is smooth and friendly. Be sure to sneak a peak at the members’ lounge and meeting rooms upstairs, where the buzz of meetings and connections taking place is steady.

“There is no need to overdo things, let ingredients speak for themselves.” Chef Delia Harbottle
