ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 2 C sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 300 ml cake flour
  • 2 ml flavoured salt (hibiscus, rose, orange)
  • 120 ml cocoa
  • 100 g salted pretzels, chopped

method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease a rectangular oven dish (20 x 30cm).
  3. Soften the butter and cream with sugar.
  4. Add eggs and whisk.
  5. Slowly add flour, salt and cocoa.
  6. Pour into baking dish and cover with pretzels.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Cool, cut into squares and top with crushed pretzels.
  1. Variation – can use almond or coconut flour for a gluten-free option, and replace the pretzels with chopped nuts.
